Whitewash Stamping

I was shopping at the dollar store the other day and strolled through the aisles looking for a little creative inspiration. Behold: Clorox Bleach. Pick up a bottle or take a trip to your laundry room and give this "whitewash" technique a try! Fold a paper towel into fourths and place on a plate. Pour bleach onto the paper towel to create a temporary stamp pad. Simply press a stamp into the bleach pad and stamp onto the Boardwalk Red and Deep Blue papers. Wait a few moments for the pigment of the paper to disappear! Load a water brush with bleach, and remove color from the stripes on the beach chairs. (If you leave the bleach in the water brush, consider labeling with a permanent marker.) I was thrilled with the results when stamping the bold "enjoy" image with bleach! Even the detail on the vintage swimsuits came through beautifully. (If your attempt to stamp with bleach doesn't work the first time, don't give up. Be sure the image is well-loaded with bleach, and wait for the bleach to dry completely.) If you accidentally splash a few drops of bleach onto a card panel, go with it! Use a water brush to add some extra splatters to the piece and call it done. Be sure to work in a well-ventilated area and clean your stamps thoroughly when you're finished making art.
