Create twenty Blue Christmas cards with the Terrific Twenty Card Formula and 12-14 sheets of paper from your stash. Now that's a lot of cards!
To create my cards, I gathered papers from the Galaxy, Wanderer, and Blue Christmas collections. I also paired alcohol markers (Ohuhu) with the gorgeous Blue Christmas stamp set.
The detailed artwork helped me practice my blending skills.
Twenty Blue Christmas Cards - Assembly Tips
When I create projects or cards with Club Scrap's downloadable formulas and a unique combination of papers and stamps, I find it helpful to consult the online instructions and make notes with pencil to assign which papers will work best with each design.
To recreate this set of cards use the following paper substitutions:
Paper A - Blue Christmas White
Paper B - Wanderer Sky
Paper C - Wanderer Navy
Paper D - Wanderer Kraft
Paper E - Blue Christmas Ornament Print
Paper F - Galaxy Blue
Bonus Paper (optional) - Blue Christmas Silver
Cut the papers according to the detailed instructions and sort into an Accordion Pocket file (or deal out the pieces into piles by "card set" A, B, or C).
Dry fit clear stamp artwork and sentiments onto each panel to determine which stamps will fit best with each design.
Set A - Z-Fold Cards
Stamp the sentiments with Sapphire Hybrid Ink. (Use a stamp positioning tool to achieve consistent placement.)
Stamp the berry branches with Earth Ink.
To color the branches, begin with brown shades on the leaves. Add blue to the berries leaving a bit of white space at the top of each one to indicate highlights.
Add more berry branches to the first smaller and large silver panels with Earth Ink. I decided to leave the middle of each silver panel blank.
Finish each card by tucking the wide ribbon behind the z-fold mechanism.
Set B - Small Panel Cards
Emboss the large card panels with a 3-D swirls design.
Stamp the ornament and sentiment with Sapphire Ink. (Using a stamp positioning tool ensures consistent placement.)
Add a touch of color to the stamped image with alcohol markers. Begin by coloring the pinecone with a light shade of brown.
Use a darker brown to define the shaded areas.
Adhere a loop of ribbon (from the Blue Christmas and Wanderer kits) to each card.
Set C - Large Panel Cards
Stamp the wreath and sentiment with Sapphire Ink.
(I found using an assembly line technique to color the images worked best.) Begin by coloring all of the berries with a light shade of blue.
Add a light brown color to all the pinecones.
Add a darker shade of blue to the bottom of the berries to create a shadow. (Blend with light blue to soften any harsh lines, if needed.)
Finish with a darker shade of brown to deepen the shading of the pinecones.
Punch sixteen 1/8" and eight 1/4" circles from the Blue Christmas Dazzles carrier sheet. (I used a Crop-a-Dile.)
Tie small bows into jute (Wanderer) and silver ribbon (Blue Christmas).
Remove the white backing from the punched circle Dazzles. (They should slide off easily with a tiny bit of pressure.)
Adhere to the stamped panels around the sentiment. Apply a dot of Bookbinding Glue to adhere the bows to the wreath image.
Adhere the panels to card bases, using a grid ruler as your guide.
