The Trifold Album is one of my favorite retreat projects of all time! My goal in designing the album was to utilize a series of different types of closures I've had my eye on. I was able to showcase a magnetic closure, hook and loop with a flap, satin ribbon, and an adapted button closure all in one book!
The base structure is made with the newest member of Club Scrap's folding board family. Last year we debuted the hammered copper and brushed stainless steel. This year, we've added the perfect matte finish black. This awesome stuff is heavy, but still cuts, scores and folds easily.
Trifold Album - Sea Breeze
The album kit features a very neutral palette perfect for finishing with any Club Scrap page kit. I chose the Sea Breeze collection to showcase photos taken at Upper Michigan's Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
Finish the four outside panels of the album with silver metal corners. Add CS® Bookbinding Glue to the channel of the V-shaped corner, slide on, and crimp from the inside.
The left panel of the book has two trifold pages secured with a 1" circle and mini brad. Simply slide the long flap of the trifold page beneath the circle to secure.
The right section of the trifold album features a flap that secures with a strong hook and loop dot. The pocket is 1/4" deep and holds items up to 5x7" in size. For this version, I created a stitched book to carry even more photos.
Finally, the center section contains ten waterfall pages secured with a black double-faced satin bow. The book easily accommodates a photo on each side of the page, holding twenty-one prints in this example.
To finish the outside cover, load micro beads into a miniature glass bottle and adhere it to the outside flap of the cover.
Trifold Album - Ivy League
Cover the outside album panels with portions of the 12x12 Ivy League Print. Adhere a bronze button to the flap.
Have fun decorating all of the surfaces with more Ivy League cutaparts and prints.
Create a fun insert for the pocket by linking several pieces of the Tan Texture Plain together with 1" tabs.
My mind is buzzing with more creative options for this project. The world is your oyster if you'd like to start from scratch with the trifold component kit, which contains the ribbon and pre-cut folding board. You'll substitute the Dk. Gray, White and Stone elements with papers from your stash.
