While cleaning and organizing my craft room during this "shelter in place" I rediscovered my PanPastels from a past Retreat. It prompted me to try my hand at making stencil gel prints with PanPastels.
Julie has been inspiring me to use my gel plate with her live facebook videos, but the only color acrylic paint I have on hand is white. The prints made using white paint were STUNNING!
STENCIL GEL PRINTS WITH PANPASTELS
Gather the following supplies:
- Gel Plate
- PanPastels
- Assorted Club Scrap stencils
- White acrylic paint
- Brayer
First, place a stencil on top of a clean gel plate. Next, apply PanPastels to the surface with a sponge. I used the Gone Wild Animal Print stencil.
Remove the stencil from the gel plate.
Using a brayer, add a very thin layer of white acrylic paint. You MUST use paint on top of the PanPastels or the image won't lift.
Place a white panel on top of the gel plate and rub the surface to really pick up the paint.
Finally, carefully lift the panel to see the magic!
This technique results in a shabby chic or "weathered" look. Some prints actually pulled images left from previous panels.
I am so thrilled with these printed panels! Use them to make cards, tags, ATCs or other artwork.
