Club Scrap recently released three new card workshop kits. In each workshop, you'll learn how to create six cards in approximately 1 hour with five 12x12 papers. The 6 in 60 kits include the paper, printed Cutapart greetings, as well as ribbon to finish each card. Keep reading to learn how to repurpose one set of instructions to create a fun batch of Mariachi cards.

Mariachi Cards

After making the 6 in 60 Hooray cards, I was inspired to create another set featuring paper from my stash.

Repurposing an existing card formula is easy: First, gather five 12x12 papers, some favorite stamps, and ribbons. Next, substitute papers for those listed in the Hooray instructions and follow the cutting formulas to trim the pieces. Finally, assemble the cards using photos of the finished cards as a guide. Add stamped sentiments, artwork, ribbons and other embellishments as desired.

To recreate my cards, use the following paper substitutions from the Mariachi collection:

Paper A, B, C (Plains): Aqua, Red, Green
Print: Card Kit Print
Cutapart: Plain White for stamping

The formula creates two each of three different card structures, for a total of six 4.25 x 5.5" cards.

Set A - Single-fold Cards

Stamp the medallion image (Mariachi Stamps) onto the white panels with Lagoon ink. Add sentiments in India ink. For the card on the left, staple a bit of silver-edged black ribbon to the upper right corner of the sentiment before nesting it onto the front of the card. For the card on the right, create a "chain link" with white ribbon and tape ends to the back side of the panel.

Inside each card, stamp the banner image in a repeating pattern in Red Hybrid ink to create a border. Add the sentiments with India ink. Center the sentiment panel to the inside of the card, accented with a printed scrap.

Set B - Split Flap Cards

Create backgrounds for each white panel by pairing the floral image with Peridot ink. Stamp sentiments in India ink. Staple (or wrap) a length of silver-edged black ribbon to accent the panel before nesting them onto the card flaps.

Repeat the steps to create the inside flap sentiment panels.

Set C - Double Z Fold Cards

Stamp the guitar image onto the narrow white strip with India ink. Create a mask of the same image with a sticky note, frisket film or your favorite masking medium. Place the mask over the guitar image and over-stamp it with the floral swirl inked with Peridot. Remove the mask and add the sentiment with India ink. Tape a snippet of silver-edged black ribbon to the back side of the strip.

Inside, stamp the smaller white strips with a portion of the same swirl image inked with Red. Add sentiments (India ink).

So what do you think? I just love these three card styles and everything came together so quickly, with no waste!
