Create a set of Shibori Gelli Print cards with this fun and simple technique!
I just love Gelli plate printing and if you have never tried it, be warned: it can be very addicting. I chose to work with several Shibori stamps for this technique.
Shibori Gelli Print Technique
Roll out a thin layer of navy blue acrylic paint onto a 6x6" Gelli Arts Printing Plate with a rubber brayer.
Press the stamp into the wet paint on the plate.
While the paint is wet, stamp onto a white panel to create a pattern. Moving quickly, continue to remove color from the plate to the paper.
Lay a piece of white paper onto the damp paint on the Gelli plate and cover with an 8.5x11" sheet of copy paper. Burnish firmly with your palm to transfer the paint onto the panel.
Carefully pull the white panel off the plate to reveal the image.
Experiment with a variety of stamps, stencils, and masks.
Shibori Gelli Print Cards
Gather papers from the Shibori collection. Cut the papers and Gelli prints into pieces following the Vol. 5 Ace of Hearts sketch as a guide.

I love the torn edges that reveal the striking contrast between the navy blue paint and the white paper. Visit these blog posts for even more Gelli Print creative inspiration!
