Who else is excited about the new Sea Glass release? While watching Tricia’s live unboxing, I thought “I have to HAVE this collection!” However, the rational side of my brain said, ”I’m pretty sure you already have a previous version.” And dang it, my brain was right!
The original Sea Breeze monthly theme (07.18) was so popular, it's actually the third time it's been remixed. Sea Glass and Sea Breeze Remix 2020 and 2021 feature different color palettes, but the prints and cutaparts are very similar, with slightly different phrases and sentiments. Regardless of which version you choose, I hope my cards inspire you to create a set of your own!
I found some Sea Breeze Remix (2021) prints and cutaparts in my stash. As I was searching for coordinating plain paper, I remembered that I had gifted my (original) Sea Breeze stamps to a friend. What’s a girl to do? Instead, I supplemented the cutapart sentiments with a combination of the other TEN ocean-themed stamp sets I already own. (Yes, I’m a sucker for stamps).
Sea-inspired Cards
To recreate Sea Breeze (or Sea Glass) cards similar to mine, begin with the purchase and download of the Deluxe Card Formula 6. The card formula and video workshop guides you through the creation of 16 cards and two card trays with sliding lids.
While sorting and trimming the papers from my stash, I utilized following paper assignments:
12x12 A: Starfish Print
12x12 B: Pale Blue
(2) 12x12 C: Slate
(2) 12x12 D: White
(2) 12x12 E: Turquoise
(2) 12x12 F: Bottle Print
(2) 12x12 G: Olive Green
Remember, you can easily replace the papers above with any color, from any version. Just remember to sub print for print, and plain for plain.
Cards 1-4
Dry emboss the largest plain panels to create dimension and interest. A combination of ribbons and wood embellishments (Dollar Tree) decorate each card. White Blizzard Nuvo Drops add sparkle to the images. Add stamped sentiments to select cards: “Not all stars...” (Under the Sea 03.22) and “Make some waves.” (High Tide 08.19).
Cards 5-8
Add texture to larger plain panels and strips with embossing folders. Embellish plain strips with cutapart border strips or cut a "v" shape into the ends for added interest. White Blizzard Nuvo Drops add sparkle to the images. Apply clear Nuvo to the glass bottle to create dimension. Stamp “No shirt, no shoes” with Lagoon Ink (Surf Shop 03.23).
Cards 9-12
Dry emboss larger plain panel and select strips. Embellish select border strips with cutaparts or ribbon. Add sparkle to select images with White Blizzard Nuvo Drops. Supplement cutaparts with stamped sentiments: “Seas the day” (Under the Sea 03.22), “Oceans of birthday wishes” (High Tide 08.19), “You can shake the...” (Cape Cod 03.13).
Cards 13-16
Add texture to larger plain panels and strips with embossing folders. Top plain paper strips with cutaparts or ribbon. Apply White Blizzard Nuvo Drops to the images. Supplement the cutaparts with stamped sentiments: “Go with the waves” (Seaside 2014 Special Release) and “Mermaid wisdom” (Lagoon 08.17).
Card Trays with Sliding Lid
Both card trays with sliding lids are decorated with laser cut wood shapes (Dollar Tree), ribbon and stamped sentiments: “Have a turtley awesome day” (Under the Sea 03.22) and “Aloha” (Surf Shop 03.23).
I hope my cards inspire you to transform the Sea Glass special remix Page Kit (or any other variation of the Sea Breeze collection) into cards. There are so many different card formulas available, the possibilities are nearly endless!
