Create interesting elements on cards, pages or projects with the Scrappy Borders technique. Lisa and I stumbled across this idea on Facebook and couldn't wait to share it with all of you. Gather up those scraps and let's start crafting!

*The finished size of each finished card sample is 4.25x5.5", unless otherwise noted.

Scrappy Borders Technique

Place a length of clear packing tape sticky side up on the work surface.

Tear strips of scrap paper and adhere to the tape in a random pattern.

Continue to add strips until the tape is completely covered.

Apply Bookbinding Glue to the surface of the paper with a foam brush to seal the strips.

Allow the glue to dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Once the strip is completely dry, trim away any paper extending beyond the tape edges with scissors or a paper trimmer.

Now you have scrappy border strips you can add as embellishments on a card, page or other paper crafting project!

Shades of Winter
(12.16) Cards - Julie

Mat the scrappy border strip with dark blue. Position onto a 4x5.25" burgundy panel. Add die cut branches, sequins, and a stamped sentiment (Gnome for Christmas).

Position the border strip directly onto a printed blue card panel. Add die cut branches, sequins, and stamped sentiment (Gnome for Christmas).

Chocolate Card - Lisa

Tear a combination of plain and printed paper strips from the Chocolate collection to create the border.

Adhere the strip to a brown card panel. Add die cut shapes, pearls, embossing for texture, and a stamped sentiment to complete the card.
