When life gets in the way and creative time gets pushed aside, we don't have time to create elaborate cards or layouts. I bet we all can relate to that. Here is a simple tag that took under an hour to make.

I had a few ideas spinning around in my head, and this one came to me while playing with the stencil that was included in The Blues Deluxe kit.

Mixed Media Tag tutorial

1. Apply embossing ink directly onto The Blues Keyboard stencil.

2. Press a manila tag firmly onto the inked stencil and burnish well to transfer the ink.

3. Apply Extra Dark Ultra Blue Pan Pastels onto the ink with a fine paint brush using care to avoid smearing the moist ink.

4. Add color to the edges of the tag with Sapphire ink and an ink applicator.

5. Rough up the edges of the tag with a paper distressing tool.

Add Black India ink to the distressed edges.

6. Add the Borders and Backgrounds quote to the front of the tag with embossing ink and Tinsel gold embossing powder; heat set.

7. Tear pieces of the Deluxe Gray 8.5x11 print and adhere to the front of the tag.

8. Stamp the Borders and Backgrounds sentiment onto the torn paper at the edge of the tag.

9. Tie a piece of fiber to the top of the tag and add a Silver Guitar charm with black wax linen thread.

10. Create flowers with Martha Stewart's Hydrangea blossom punch and add to the tag. Add a dot to the center of each flower with Black Enamel Glossy Accents.

Let's take another look at the finished tag.

I hope you can find just a little bit of time to make something creative today. What's it going to be?
