Hi, all! Jen here. I am super-excited to be hosting the technique challenge this month. Guess what?! I want your fingers to get a li'l painty with this challenge.
Grab your clear acrylic stamping block (any size ya have) and give these ideas a try. Don't have a acrylic stamping block? No problem--just grab a piece of clear food wrap, wax paper, or plastic packaging and use that to play with--it will work much the same way!
I love the random artsy backgrounds this technique creates. It's a great way to custom color your paper and/or use up those tidbits left over from old projects.
To start, gather white card stock and different water-based/water-reactive paints and art mediums. Scribble, squirt or roll the chosen medium onto your acrylic block, add a bit of water, and stamp it onto your paper. So fun!!! I'll let my photos tell the story:
OIL PASTELS
Prima oil pastels spritzed with water. (Gelatos and Distress Crayons would work great, too.)
As you can see, the oil pastels create a soft, semi-translucent look.
ACRYLIC PAINT
Pink and lavender acrylic paints blended with a brayer.
Acrylic paints are much more opaque by comparison.
PEARLESCENT METALLIC WATERCOLOR PAINTS
Pearlescent watercolors applied using a waterbrush.

After playing around a bit, I turned my experiments into finished projects.
Both my card and my layout use my leftover bits from the Dahlia kit.
The picture of my daughter laying on the grass making a smiley face with her body and our yard balls makes me smile (inspiring the page title). She's so cute, right?!
