July's Harbor Town Page Kit makes me so happy! The summery color palette is so vibrant, the completed layouts are perfect for photos from almost any occasion!
Harbor Town Page Kit
Though each Club Scrap Page Kit creates eight coordinating pages, you don't have to use all of them for a single occasion or event. I always recommend looking at each two-page spread independently when selecting your photos.
I've heard a lot of chatter from folks not sure how to use this kit. I found plenty of photos that worked beautifully with both the color palette and theme. For example, the vibrant primary colors coordinated perfectly with many of my grandson's toys. Visit this blog post to see the pages created with photos of Patrick and his new water table.
Layout 1 & 2
We spent the holiday weekend at a pool party at my friend's house. Patrick enjoyed his new floatie so much, we had a hard time getting him out of the pool!
To maximize the size of the photo on the cutapart, crop it to 3-1/8x2-7/8". It buys me an 1/8" in each direction, preserving as much of the image as possible.
Layout 5 & 6
I went on a cruise with two girlfriends last November, and Cozumel was one of our ports of call. We enjoyed walking around and browsing the shops and restaurants. My favorite stop was a cute little bar with fun photo ops. The "Three Amigos" sign described our adventure perfectly, so I couldn't resist snapping a pic and including it here.
The photo is cropped tight at 5.75x2.25", mat with Red from the Pack of Panels, and adhered to the center of both Blue mats.
Layout 3 & 4
As a special treat for earning her Master's degree, Mike and I rented a pontoon boat for Emma's graduation. We toured the Milwaukee River near downtown and continued to where it meets Lake Michigan. The remaining four Harbor Town pages commemorate the occasion.
It was interesting to see the city from a completely different perspective. We invited Emma's friend and boyfriend along for the ride. The five of us enjoyed a splendid afternoon boating in near-perfect weather.
On the left page, crop a single vertical photo to 3.5x5-3/8" to span the stacked Red mats.
Repeat this technique on the right side of the layout, by cropping the vertical photo to 3.25x4-7/8" to fit the space created by the two Blue stacked mats.
NOTE: A slight re-arrangment of the elements on page 4 subtly covers the sentiment on the cutapart strip.
Layout 7 & 8
More photos from the pontoon cruise on the Milwaukee River.
My at-home photo printer prints photos in kind of a funky size - just shy of 4x6". Therefore, I grabbed two Blue pieces from the Harbor Town Pack of Panels to double mat the vertical photos.
NOTES: On the left page, an extra photo cropped to 2.5" square covers the "ocean" cutapart sentiment that wasn't quite right for my photos.
Take a close look at Layout 8. By flipping the location of the three square mats to the bottom of the page, the focus changes from the "water" portion of the art, to the "landscape" portion. A great tip if you're lacking water-themed photos. The house images reminded me of the tall city buildings in the photos.
I look forward to seeing what memories you'll scrap on the Harbor Town collection. Be sure to share your finished pages with fellow Club Scrap enthusiasts on our Chat group on Facebook!
