Thanks to Tricia's trimming instructions, Club Scrap page kits and card kits rarely have any scraps left over. However, when transforming a page or card kit into projects, the likelihood of scraps increases. As a person who loves to "play" with paper, I hate to see those beautiful scraps go to waste.
My crafty pal, Julie, has blogged many different techniques and ideas for rescuing scraps from the waste bin and incorporating them into finished cards and embellishments. If you like the creations I'm sharing below, I encourage you to check out the links provided at the end of the post for more inspiration. Since Julie's posts offer detailed tutorials on how to achieve similar results, I'll simply do a little "show and tell".
Vines
Remaining supplies from my Vines Memento Holder project created beautiful backgrounds for three cards. Sentiments trimmed from a Kit No. 301 Word Art sheet pair remarkably well. Mat them with coordinating strips or nest them within the design.
Very little embellishment is needed, as the design can shine on its own. However, a little sparkle never hurt anyone! Three Gold Thin Line Dazzles (Kintsugi 12.20) add just the right touch.
If you really want to "gild the lily", add a length of Metallic Ribbon and Gold Jewel Dazzles (stash).
Abundance
Here's the cool part: By simply changing the collection used, the cards take on a completely different look. The cards below were created with left over paper and embellishments from my Abundance Flexi Planner project.
Don't be afraid to incorporate printed strips into your design as well. Add cutaparts or stamped sentiments to complete each card. Coordinating embellishments, like Ombre Appliques and Leaf Stickers add the perfect finishing touch.
Typeset
I've made many, many projects with the Typeset collection, so I had quite a selection of scraps to choose from. I was able to make a big batch of cards - some shown below.
Add sentiments with your favorite stamps, or by trimming individual greetings from the 3x12 Sentiment Strip (Typeset 05.23).
Artist Trading Cards
Another great use for leftover paper strips is ATCs (Artist Trading Cards). I participate in the member-run ATC Swap on the Club Scrap Chat group on Facebook, and scraps are perfect for these pint-sized (2.5x3.5") art pieces
