On Saturday, September 16, Tricia taught a Soaring Eagle Card virtual workshop on the One of Kind Facebook group. During the presentation, students learned how to make a set of four unique and clever "Soaring Eagle" cards. I couldn't resist making another set of cards featuring July's Coastal collection. Read on if you'd like to impress your friends with your cleverness!

Coastal Soaring Eagle Cards

Prep and Paper Trimming

Make a set of four 5x7" interactive cards by purchasing the Soaring Eagle Card Formula download from our online store. To complete the cards, you'll need to gather the following supplies:

(5) 12x12 Plain Papers
Printed Cutaparts OR (2) 12x12 Prints (with stamps)

Once you've accessed the instructions document, utilize the following paper assignments from the Coastal collection:

Paper A, B, C, D = Slate, Green, White, Aqua
Paper E = Dark Teal
Paper F = one each of Shore Print, Lighthouse Print

Follow the cutting diagrams carefully. When trimming the printed papers, you may want to get creative to preserve as much of the design as possible. I adjusted the cutting measurements for the Coastal prints (#3 in the instructions) so I'd still end up with the same pieces, but from different segments of the print.

Shore Print

3. Place the print into the trimmer so the artwork is running vertically; cut at 11.5, 9, and 4.5. (Follow the instructions document for the rest of the trimming of the two 4.5x12s and one 2.5x12".)

Lighthouse Print

3. Place the print into the trimmer so the artwork is running vertically; trim at 11.5, 7, and 4.5". (Follow the instructions document for the rest of the trimming of the two 4.5x12s and one 2.5x12".)

Assembling the Finished Cards

Once all of the trimming and sorting is complete, it's time for final assembly. Mat each printed panel. Adhere each to recreate the 4.5x12 artwork across each section of the fully-extended (open) card. Add stamped sentiments and/or artwork to the small portions of the print. Flip to the plain side if needed.

Are you ready for a closer look at each card?

Stamp the life preserver image onto a Slate scrap. Fussy cut to remove the image. Stamp "Ahoy" onto a printed strip, mat with plain white, and slide it through the life preserver. Adhere to the center panel.

Stamp "happy birthday" onto the plain side of a printed panel. Knot a piece of ribbon to the left of the sentiment. Nest onto a Slate mat.

Stamp the "lighthouse" sentiment onto a printed scrap. Trim to 1.75x 4, mat with a 2x4.25" Aqua scrap. Tie Teal ribbon around the entire front panel before attaching to the card.

Stamp "happy birthday" onto the plain side of a printed panel. Nest onto Green. Top with a pelican charm tied with jute.
