Bandana Pages - Assembly Tips

Create Custom "Printed" Paper

Gather plain papers from the Bandana collection.

Place the Red (Paper C) on a cushioned surface. Stamp the large paisley swirl images in a repeating pattern with India Ink.

Fill the spaces in between the paisleys with the small flower image.

Continue stamping until the paper is filled with images.

Place the paper into a spray tray (aka: empty pizza box). Tip: Visit this blog post to learn how to make one of your own.

Dip a waterbrush into black watercolor (I used Distress Crayons). Tap the waterbrush to transfer droplets of color onto the stamped paper, creating a speckled effect. Allow the paper to dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Trim Papers and Assemble the Layout

Trim the three 12x12" papers according to the cutting instructions with the following paper assignments: Soft White (Paper A), Aqua (Paper B), Red Custom Print (Paper C), and two Black (Paper D).

Refer to the sketch to dry fit all of the trimmed pieces.

Before cropping, dry fit your chosen photos over each mat to ensure proper placement. Trim the border strips with scissors to form the swallowtail ends.

Crop the photos 1/8" smaller than the size of each photo mat.

Ensure proper positioning of the large Red panels and long border strips with a grid ruler.

Adhere the skinny strip to the base paper with Bookbinding Glue dispensed from a Needle-tipped Applicator.

Adhere the Aqua strip using the grid ruler as a guide.

Create additional stamped elements with the pack of panels to use as embellishments. Stamp the image onto a Soft White panel with a blend of Ocean and Red ink, creating an ombré effect.

Stamp the sentiment in India Ink. Nest onto the bottom of the ombré panel.

Tie knots into select ribbon scraps gathered from the Bandana Page and Card kits.

Trim each end at an angle and adhere across the border strips with Glue Lines or Bookbinding Glue.

Let's take another look at the finished pages.
