Create simple and colorful balloon embellishments with the Hooray stencil. Balloons are the perfect accent for my layout created with the April Bonus page formula.

Balloon Embellishments Tutorial

Gather a variety of Distress Inks in colors that coordinate with the paper collection. I chose to work with Squeezed Lemonade, Peacock Feathers, Villainous Potion, Barn Door, Mowed Lawn and Picked Raspberry.

To create individual balloon embellishments, cover the opening of the stencil with a small piece of white paper. Secure the paper in place with clear tape.

Flip the stencil over and add color through the stencil in a circular motion using an ink applicator brush.

Remove the stencil and reposition with the highlight overlay portion of the stencil over the balloon shape.

Spritz a paper towel lightly with water and dab over the Distress Ink through the stencil.

The addition of water activates the ink and the paper towel will absorb and remove some of the color.

Trim the balloon image with a scissors.

Continue making balloons in a variety of colors and shapes.

Bonus Formula Layout

One of the benefits of being an active member* of Club Scrap is that you receive an email containing the bonus page formula each month. The sketch and cutting instructions allow you to make two scrapbook pages using papers from your stash.

*An active member is defined as one who paid for and received the current monthly kit.

Did you know you can add an extra pack of papers from the Page kit to your membership? I find this add-on option perfect for pairing with the formula.

Layout Embellishment Tips

Adhere balloon embellishments to accent areas of the layout. Make sure to include balloons on both pages to create visual balance.

Add a stamped sentiment to fill some of the open space on your layout.

Pair a bunch of balloons with a stamped gift box. Details on how I stamped this fun embellishment can be found HERE.
