The September Orchard collection features original artwork by watercolor artist Swarup Murthy, inspiring this month's technique challenge.

Faux Watercolor acrylic block stamping

This month, the challenge is to incorporate watercolor techniques into your projects, using any technique with a “watercolor” feel and the medium of their choice. (Watercolor paints, pencils or crayons, Gelatos, dye-based inks, etc.)

FAUX WATERCOLOR ACRYLIC BLOCK STAMPING

Inspired by an earlier post I did on acrylic block stamping, I created cards with a faux watercolor look. Apply two to three colors of Distress ink to the surface of a 3x4" acrylic block. Spritz surface with water; stamp onto white panel. (You can usually get two to three impressions from each inking.) Stamp Lagoon seahorse, bubbles and sentiment in Jet Black. Use watercolor pencils to color seahorse image; blend with a water brush. Add Stickles glitter glue to bubbles.

Repeat steps using up to three shades of Oxide ink on a white panel. This particular panel reminded me of the coloring of a clownfish. Stamp images and sentiment in Jet Black.
